APARTMENT S&G
Minimalist

My client’s brief began with an iconic photograph of Steve Jobs sitting on his living room floor with nothing but a turntable, and we knew this would be a special project. This job was inspirational and refreshing, it was basically an opportunity to scrub clean the beautiful bones of a beautiful space, paint them with and furnish with the best, and purely essentials.

We restored existing parquet floors throughout the first floor and painted the staircase black to contrast against new oak floors on the ground floor. We gutted bathrooms and created clean white box spaces with minimal fittings, vivid white ceasarstone, matte porcelain tiles and thermostatic mixers to eliminate clutter. Medicine cabinets are concealed behind frameless mirrors. The solid Oak sliding door adds texture to the black and white base and stands out as a feature. The full height pivot windows open up to the zen like forrest of a garden below making this a real oasis in quite a busy area of Joburg. Here, greenery and light fittings serve as functional art pieces, completely beautiful, simple and clean.

Thank you G & S for allowing my inner neat freak to run rampant in your home!
